In 1972, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh completed his post-graduate studies in Geography at Gauhati University. In 1973, she chose to lecture at the Ideal Girls’ College in Imphal, Manipur. He taught at the college until 1984. In the same year, he was appointed as an assistant professor in the Earth Sciences Department of Manipur University. In 1985, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh was elected as the Deputy Registrar of the University. He served as the Registrar of Manipur University from 2004 to 2008. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh rendered his services as Director-in-Charge of UGC Academic Staff College and Director of College Development, Manipur University, till 2012. In 2014, he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections for the Inner Manipur seat as a BJP candidate and lost the election; However, in 2019, he tried his luck again and won the second Lok Sabha poll. On September 13, 2019, he was sworn in as a member of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests. From October 9, 2019, he was elected as a member of the Rules Committee and a member of the Advisory Committee and also headed the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region. In June 2021, he was given the charge of State Education and External Affairs, replacing Modi’s second ministry.
