Shamanur Shivashankarappa was born on Monday 16 June 1930 (age 93 years; as of 2023) in Davanagere, Karnataka, India (then Davanagere, Kingdom of Mysore, British India). His zodiac sign is Gemini. Career
politics
He served as the treasurer of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for more than three decades from the 1980s. In 1969, it became the municipal council of Davanger municipality. He began his political journey as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha, serving from 1998 to 1999, representing the Davanager constituency. He was later appointed as Minister of Horticulture and Agriculture Marketing from 2013 to 2016. He has also been an active member of the Legislative Assembly in Karnataka since 2004 representing the Davanger South constituency.

He is the chairman of Bapuji Education Association, which owns a network of over 50 educational institutions, including Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, JJM Medical College, Bapuji Dental College and Hospital and College of Pharmacy, Law and Polytechnic.

He is the owner of the Shamanur Group, a conglomerate specializing in the sugar and distilleries industries, including Shamanur Sugars Pvt. Ltd., Duggavatti, Davangere and Indian cane power Ltd., Mudhol, Bijapur District.
Philanthropy
He founded the Dr Shamanur Shivashankarappa Janakalyna Trust in 2012 with a deposit of 5 crores. A percentage of this deposit is used to provide scholarships to economically weaker students of Davanger.
He founded Bapuji Cooperative Bank in 1986. To help people, he established dining halls in temples, wedding halls, parks and lakes. He served as President of Angavikalara Ashakirana Trust, Davangere, Davangere Cricket Club, Davangere and Davansi Sports Club, Davangere. During the Covid-19 lockdown, he bought 60,000 vaccine doses for the vulnerable by paying Rs 6 lakh. He also spread awareness among the community to make Devangere a smart city.
