In 2023, KH Puttaswamy Gowda contested the Karnataka Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gauribidanur constituency and emerged victorious. In the election, he defeated his nearest rival, an Indian National Congress (INC) candidate named NH Shivashankara Reddy, by 37,286 votes.

On August 14, 2000, KH Puttaswamy Gowda established M/S Asian Cylinders Limited in Bengaluru; However, in 2006, he changed the company name to Asian Fab Tec Limited. On December 20, 2013, he was appointed as the director of the company. On June 1, 2016, he assumed the directorship of Asian Power Projects Private Limited. He was appointed as a director of Ark Clean Energy Private Limited on March 18, 2017. On March 29, 2023, he became a director of Evexia Nutritions Private Limited, Zass Rubber Products Private Limited and Canara Pipes Private Limited.

Apart from politics and business, KH Puttaswamy Gowda is actively involved in social activism. He is the owner and president of the KHP Foundation. Through his foundation, he helped the poor and needy in Karnataka.
