Mohan Yadav is an Indian politician and member of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He is also the Cabinet Minister (Education) in the Government of Madhya Pradesh and State President of Wrestling Association and Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association.

Political career
Mohan started his career while studying in college. In 1982, he was the co-secretary of the Madhav Science College Students’ Union. In 1984, he became the President of Madhav Science College Students Union and Minister of Ahil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Ujjain. In 1988, he was Head of Department and Co-Minister of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Ujjain. In 1989-1990, he was the Minister of the Council. In 1991, he became the Minister of the National Council. From 1993 to 1995, he served as the Minister of National Swayam Sevak Sangh, Ujjain Nagar Sah Khand Kariyava and Sayam Bhag Nagar Kariyava. In 1996, he was elected as the Minister of Block and City Affairs. In 1998, he became a member of the advisory committee of the Western Railway Council. From 2002 to 2003, he was a member of the Executive Council of Vikram University, General Secretary, Ujjain and Municipal District. In 2004, he became a member of the state executive committee of the BJP and a member of the central committee of Simhasta, Madhya Pradesh. From 2004 to 2010, he served as the head of the Madhya Pradesh Development Authority. In 2008, he was elected as the head of Bharat Scouts and Guides. From 2011 to 2013, he served as a Cabinet Minister of Madhya Pradesh. In 2013, he was elected MLA from Ujjain Dakshin constituency. From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Co-Convener of the Cultural Cell of India. In 2018, he was re-elected as MLA from Ujjain Dakshin constituency. On 2 July 2020, he was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

He stopped campaigning for a day during the midterm elections
In 2020, Mohan was served a notice by the Election Commission that he would not be allowed to campaign for one day for using abusive language during the state elections on 31 October 2020.
Mohan’s stand against Higher Education Department
In 2021, when the Higher Education Department proposed a law to bar students with a criminal record from college, Mohan came out in support of the students and said that if there is no law to stop ministers from contesting elections in the Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha, even if they have a criminal record, then why stop students.
Derogatory comments about Mother Sita
On 18 December 2022, when Mohan was attending the Karsevak Samman ceremony in Nagda, he spoke about Mother Sita and said:
Ramji had to leave Sita Mata for the sake of the state despite being pregnant. Sita Mata’s children had to be buried in the jungle, despite suffering so much, the mother respects her husband so much that she forgets her hardships and prays to Lord Rama for his life. In today’s age, that life is like life after divorce.”
A video of the event went viral on social media and many Congress leaders said it was not right for him to make such comments. In an interview, he commented and said:
The program was to honor the sacrifices of Kar-Sevaks. That’s why I said something about Rajya. At its head was the sacrifice and love of Rama and Sita. I was telling him what sacrifices he had to make for Lord Rama’s kingdom, what hardships he had to endure. My point is misrepresented. ”
Nasty comments on the Republic Day parade
In January 2022, Mohan made infamous remarks about the Republic Day parade on his social media account, saying:
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was there, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was at the Republic Day Parade. There was no Country Fake Father, Country Fake Uncle, Iron Lady or Computer Inventor in the parade. In the parade there was a tablet of Kashi Vishwanath, there was a tablet of Goddess Vaishnodevi, there was a scene of eternal culture. My country is really changing, my country is coming out of the jaws of English slaves, my country is really becoming freedom.”
After his comments, Congress leaders criticized him, and Congress working president Ravi Rai spoke about Mohan’s comment, saying:
What message does the Minister of Higher Education want to send to society with such a statement? We condemn such posts on Republic Day. This is the mindset of RSS and BJP and Godse. He said that the minister’s divine ideology showed him saying wrong things about Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

- In 2021, he proposed at a meeting in Bhopal that engineering students should be taught Ramayana, Mahabharata and Ramcharitmana in the syllabus to memorize Indian history. He also added that the syllabus was prepared under NEP 2020.
- In 2022, at a two-day PhD seminar organized at the Academy of Administration in Bhopal, he said that a PhD simply copies someone else’s paper and sends it. He also said that political leaders often copy the paper and go on to do Ph.D. After congressional leaders took issue with his comments, he clarified it, saying he was talking about the old ways of doing PhDs, but nobody can copy anything now. Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja addressed his comments, saying:
State Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav himself narrates the reality of his department’s Ph.D. They tell how the doctorate is done, why it is done. How politicians copy and present. This is the reality. Now those who are responsible are telling the truth… Such a minister of education should be removed.”

Times are changing and all Bollywood actors will have to understand whether they will attack our culture or do anything against Hindu religion. So it will not be tolerated in the country and in Madhya Pradesh. “
