In 2011, Vikramaditya joined politics and became a member of the Indian National Congress. In 2013, he was elected as the President of the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress. In the 2017 Assembly elections, Vikramaditya contested from Shimla Rural constituency and won the seat by 13,860 votes from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ravi Mehta. In 2022, he contested from the same constituency and won by defeating BJP candidate Dr. Pramod Sharma by 4,880 votes. On 23 September 2015, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, his son Vikramaditya Singh, his wife Pratibha Singh and his daughter Aprajita Singh, accusing them of amassing money. On 17 October 2022, Vikramaditya’s wife Sudarshana Chundawat filed a case in a Udaipur court against him, his mother-in-law Pratibha Singh, son-in-law Aparajita Singh, son-in-law Angad Singh and a woman accused of domestic and domestic violence in Chandigarh.
