Sumaira Malik Awan or Sumera Malik was born on Thursday, 19 December 1963 (age 59 years; as of 2022) in Kalabagh, Mianwal District, Pakistan. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Career
2002 Pakistan General Election
Sumaira started her political career in 2002 and joined the National Alliance Party. In the 2002 Pakistan general election, he contested from the NA-69 (Khushab-I) constituency and was elected to the Pakistan National Assembly, defeating the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) candidate Umer Aslam Khan by 71,925 votes. In September 2004, he served as Minister of State for Tourism in the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s government, Pakistan Muslim League (Q). She also headed the Ministries of Women’s Development and Youth Affairs during her tenure.
2008 Pakistan General Election
In the 2008 Pakistan general election, Sumaira was re-elected as the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) candidate from NA-69 (Khushab-I) constituency, defeating independent candidate Umer Aslam Khan.
2013 Pakistan General Election
In the 2013 Pakistan general election, he won from NA-69 (Khushab-I) constituency as the Pakistan Muslim League (N) candidate defeating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Umer Aslam Khan. In 2014, the 2013 general election for NA-69 (Khushab-I) constituency was declared void after Sumaira was disqualified by the Supreme Court for possessing a fake degree. Later, by-elections were held where Sumaira’s son Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan won the seat by defeating the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate.

In the 2018 Pakistan General Election, Sumaira lost from NA-69 (Khushab-I) Constituency to Malik Umer Aslam Khan, candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf by 30,047 votes.

Accused of fake diploma
In the 2013 general elections, Sumaira Malik was elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) on Pakistan Muslim League (N) ticket from NA-69 (Khushab-I) constituency. After her third consecutive victory, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the rival candidate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Malik Omar Aslam, in which he alleged that Sumaira had a fake degree in arts and accused her of hiring a person to impersonate her in diploma exams. He claimed that Sumaira graduated in 1981, but she obtained a fake degree from Punjab University to legally retain her right to contest general elections. In October 2013, the Supreme Court accused him of not being sufficiently qualified to stand for election under constitutional provisions, and his victory in the 2013 general election was declared null and void. In addition, the Supreme Court disqualified him from running in the elections in accordance with Article 62, Clause 1, Sub-Clause f) of the Constitution, for having a fake degree. The Supreme Court ruled that:
He earned a bachelor’s degree in such a way that, based on the same educational qualifications that candidates usually list in nominations, he proved that he was not a straight man. For the foregoing reasons, the instant appeal is barred. Therefore, due to such qualifications, he will not have the right to participate in the elections in the future, and if he participates in the elections and is declared successful, the election commission is obliged to inform him without any change.”
However, on 9 June 2018, the Supreme Court allowed Sumaira to contest in the 2018 general elections of Pakistan and overturned the decision to disqualify her for life from contesting in the parliamentary elections after an in-depth forensic examination of her degree, which showed her to be authentic.
Violation of ballot secrecy
On December 22, 2016, Sumaira was appointed as the chairman of the Khushab district council. On 28 December 2016, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) removed him from office after a petition was filed by Ameer Haider Sangha alleging that one of the voters had blown up his ballot during voting. However, on 7 July 2017, the Islamabad High Court reinstated Sumaira as the Chairperson of District Council Khushab. On 8 May 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared the main election null and void and ordered them to re-run the election. Sumaira, who was serving as the Chairperson of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) District Council, was disqualified and eventually forced to resign. A petition filed by Amir Haider led to Sumaira’s second consecutive disqualification by the Supreme Court in five years.

In the leaked audio, Imran Khan can be heard having an inappropriate conversation with a woman who is believed to be Sumaira’s sister Aila. However, Imran Khan’s political party Tehreek-e-Insaf denied the story and said the audio recordings were fake and fabricated. Ayla, who was believed to be a woman on the other end, also denied the story, saying the voice was not hers. Sumaira called the audio recording fake and tweeted in support of her sister Ayla Malik, saying:
