Career

Yashomati Thakur entered politics as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). In 2004, he first contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections from Teosa (also known as Tivsa) constituency in Amravati district, but he lost the election; BJP candidate Sahebrao Tete won the seat. From 2004 to 2009, he held the post of General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress. At the same time, she worked as a member of the State Commission for Women. After that, he joined the Rahul Gandhi Youth Brigade where he was given the charge of Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He served as the Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, the Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and the President of the Maharashtra State Congress. He contested and won the Theosa Assembly seat in the 2009 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, defeating the Shiv Sena candidate Sanjay Bendi by 26,130 votes. He was re-elected as MLA from Teosa in 2014 and 2019. On 30 December 2019, she was sworn in as the Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of Women and Child Development under Uddhav Thackeray in the Mahavika Aghadi government; He served in this position until June 29, 2022. In 2018, the Congress appointed Yashomati as the Karnataka party secretary. 2012 police officer assault case

Yashomati Thakur and three others, including his driver, were sentenced to three months in jail by an Amravati court for assaulting a policeman in Amravati district in 2012.
