Rohan Jaitley was born to Arun Jaitley (deceased) and Sangeeta Jaitley, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra. Arun Jaitley was an Indian politician, lawyer, and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who served as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019. He died of sarcoma on 24 August 2019 after battling cancer for many years. Rohan has an elder sister, Sonali, who is also a lawyer. Sonali Jaitley is married to lawyer Jaiyesh Bakhshi.
Rohan Jaitley tied the knot with Meherunnisa Anand, daughter of Alka and Jaideep Anand. Meherunnisa is also an attorney.
Rohan’s paternal grandparents are Maharaj Kishen Jaitley and Ratan Prabha Jaitley. Maharaj Kishen was a lawyer by profession. Rohan is the great-grandson of Bhima Mal Shah and Shrimati Lajowati. Rohan’s maternal grandparents are Girdhari Lal Dogra and Shakuntala Dogra. Girdhari Lal was a former minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rohan is an Associate Researcher at Jaitley Realtors Private Limited in Mumbai and Coaching Analytics Coordinator at the Brooklyn Nets. in New York, NY. In October 2020, Rohan was elected as the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). He continued in this role for the second time in October 2021. Before being elected as the president of DDCA, Rohan practised law at the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.
Allegation of Sexual Abuse
In February 2023 there was a complaint made against Rohan Jaitley. A woman named Jyotsna Sahani accused Rohan of sexually harassing her and wrote a complaint for the same to the Board of Control for Cricket (BBCI). There also was a report on the YouTube Channel run by journalist Sakshi Joshi saying that money from DDCA funds was used to book the hotel rooms for the complainant. Jyotsna sent the email sharing details to Jay Shah, Roger Binny and NCA chief WS Laxman. The complainant alleged that on the pretext of marriage, Rohan sexually harassed her and when she tried to end their relationship, Rohan and his wife threatened her. In the email, she wrote,
I went out of my way routine walk around my colony when two men came up to me and threatened me that if I tell anyone about my relationship with Rohan then I will never be able to show my face to anyone ever again. They further threatened me that next time if I eve coe in their way, they will throw acid on my face.”
Rohan Jaitley faced another sexual abuse and rape allegation in July 2023. A Bengali-origin woman filed a complaint with the BCCI against Rohan on the grounds of sexual abuse and rape. The complainant was a model working in Mumbai. She accused Rohan of raping her in October 2022 at a hotel in South Mumbai. In her complaint, she wrote,
I am a professional model based out of Mumabi. I got in touch with Rohan Jaitley, president of DDCA through a friend. I wanted to be an Emcee during the IPL and shared my interest in the same with him. In October 2022, he called me to a hotel in South Mumbai where he was staying and promised me to get the Emcee job for teh IPL.”
The complainant also accused Rohan of offering her money and an Emcee job in the next IPL to keep silent about the incident.
- In 2014, a Punjab-based businessman, Jayjeev Singh Chadha, impersonated Rohan Jaitley to get VIP treatment and increase the credit limit up to Rs 7 Crores for his friend.
