Shaista Parveen is an Indian politician and the wife of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. His name came into limelight during the police investigation when it was revealed that he had planned to kill Umesh Pal in February 2023.

Shaista Parveen was born on Saturday 1 July 1972 (age 50; as of 2022) in Dhomanganj District, Prayagraj (then Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Cancer. After her husband Atiq was arrested in 2017 and the police started filing charge sheets in the FIR, she began to find political cover for her family to keep Asad’s political background intact in hopes of his release. He joined the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in September 2021, where AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi was also present.

He later held many rallies for AIMIM and read out a message given by Atiq at a rally where he said that Muslims should vote for him as they have no political representatives, forcing them to do menial jobs like repairing bicycles.
He joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on 5 January 2023 in a grand function. He was rumored to be contesting the Prayagraj mayoral election as a BSP candidate; However, later he was released from the side of the mayoral candidate. When he joined the BSP, he said the votes of Muslims and Dalits were important to him and he would work to uplift them. She said,
The combination of Dalit and Muslim can do wonders in the political field not only in UP but across the country. But I feel that everything will be good and favorable when the BSP chief becomes the chief minister of the state.”

Named as conspirator in Umesh Pal’s murder
Former BSP MLA Raju Pal’s brother Umesh Pal was killed in broad daylight on February 24, 2023 in Prayagraj. Umesh was a key witness in the Raju Pal kidnapping case. Two policemen were also killed in the shooting. Police later filed an FIR against Shaista Parveen, her husband Atiq Ahmed, her son Asad, Atiq’s brother Ashraf, 4 other criminals as accused in the case. Later, while investigating the details, the police learned about his role in the murder. They discovered that he often arranged negotiations between Attic and other gang members. He fled to an unknown location to avoid arrest, following which the police announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on March 12, 2023. He later approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) for anticipatory bail in March 2023; However, the appeal was rejected. The UP Police later doubled the reward for him to Rs 50,000 in April 2023. It was rumored that he would surrender to his son Asad, who was killed in an encounter in Jhansi on 13 April 2023.

- He filed an application in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in March 2023, alleging that his two minor sons, Azhan and Abaan, were illegally detained by the police and could not meet them. In response, the police said that both the boys were found in Kasar Masar district and taken to Khuldabad Juvenile Detention Centre.
- It was rumored that he used to visit the house of one of his brothers, who was posted in Varanasi as a sub-inspector of the UP police.
- According to the leaked call recording, Shaista was talking to Atiq, who was in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, he was not happy when Asad was named as one of the accused in Umesh Pal’s murder; However, Atiq scolded him and called Asad “sher ka beta”.
