Rachin Ravindra was born on Thursday, 18 November 1999 (age 24 years; as of 2023) in Wellington, New Zealand. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. Rachin’s family has its roots in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, from where his parents moved to Wellington in the early 1990s. Rachin attended Hutt International Boys’ School in Wellington. Growing up in a family that followed cricket so closely, cricket was a natural influence for Rachin, who began playing the sport at a young age.

As a child, he would enjoy both, playing cricket and watching it on television. He often practised the sport with his faith in their backyard. Career

Domestic

At the domestic level, Rachin represents Wellington usually at the top order. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with Wellington for the 2018–19 season of the Tom Ford Trophy. On 27 January 2019, he made his T20 debut for Wellington against Otago at Dunedin. On 25 November 2019, during a List A match for Wellington against Auckland in the 2019–20 Ford Trophy, Rachin scored his maiden List A century. In March 2020, during a match in the 2019–20 season of the Plunket Shield, Ravindra scored his first First-class cricket century. In June 2022, Durham County Cricket Club signed him to play in the County Championship in England. During his debut match for Durham against Worcestershire, Ravindra scored 217 runs, his maiden double century in a first-class match. In June 2020, Wellington awarded him with a contract for the 2020–21 domestic cricket season. He has also represented the Wellington Under 17, Wellington Under 19, and Wellington Firebirds teams.

International

U-19

Before making it to New Zealand’s national cricket team, Rachin Ravindra played for New Zealand’s Under-19 team. In 2016, he was included in New Zealand’s Under-19 squad for the U-19 World Cup. He then represented New Zealand in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. After the conclusion of the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Ravindra was named as the rising star of the squad by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He has played through the age ranks for New Zealand.

First Class

Rachin made his First Class debut on 30 October 2018, playing for New Zealand A against Pakistan A at ICCA Dubai. In November 2020, he was named in the New Zealand A squad for practice matches against the West Indies team, during their tour in India. He scored a century (112 runs) in his first practice match.

On 21 October 2018, Rachin Ravindra made his List A debut, playing for New Zealand A against Pakistan A at Tolerance Oval.

One Day International

In August 2021, Rachin was named in New Zealand’s one-day international squad for their tour in Pakistan. On 25 March 2023, Ravindra made his one-day international debut, playing for New Zealand against Sri Lanka in Aukland. In the same year, he was named in New Zealand’s squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. During the opening match of the World Cup, Rachin Ravindra scored his maiden century against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He scored 123 (not out) runs off 96 balls, featuring 5 sixes and 11 fours, becoming the fourth Kiwi player to score a century in an ODI World Cup debut. In the match, he partnered with Devon Conway to score 273 runs off 211 balls, registering the fourth-highest partnership in World Cup history.
