Today’s verdict lifts the dark cloud that has been hanging over me for the past two years. I feel mixed emotions. First of all, I am sorry that I ever had to put myself, my friends, and my family through the wrong accusations of one man. But I also feel great joy because my past career ended unscathed and remained intact, and because I had the courage to defend my name in the High Court. Finally, I am very relieved to be able to step up to any cricket ground in the world.”

Later in September 2014, the Metropolitan Police announced that Chris would be charged with perjury in the Lalit Modi case in 2012. The jury spent more than ten hours reaching their final verdict and on 1 December 2015 Southwark Crown Court found him and his co-defendant Andrew Fitch-Holland guilty of perjury.
