Navyot Singh Sidhu is a former Indian cricketer, commentator, cricket analyst, politician and television personality.

Navyot Singh Sidhu was born on 20 October 1963 (59 years old as of 2022) in Patiala, Punjab. He did his schooling at Yadavindra Public School in Patiala and went to Mohindra College, Panjab University, Chandigarh to complete his graduation. Like his father, he also wanted to be a cricketer. At the age of 20, he auditioned for the Indian national cricket team and was selected for the team.

Naviot Singh Sidhu made his international cricket debut in 1983 when he managed to score just 19 runs against West Indies in a Test cricket match. He was dropped from the team after playing just two Test matches. 4 years later, he made his One Day International debut in the 1987 Cricket World Cup where he scored 73 runs against Australia. He then went on to score half-centuries in four of the five matches he contested. His first ODI century came against Pakistan in Sharjah in 1989. In 1993, he scored his highest ODI score of 134 runs against England. After playing in over 50 Test matches and over 100 ODIs and scoring over 7,000 runs in his 18-year career, Sidhu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in December 1999.

Sidhu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004 and contested the Indian General Election from Amritsar constituency. He won the election and held the mandate until 2014.   • On 19 May 2022, Sidhu was sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment in a road rage case. The incident took place in 1988 when Sidhu and his friend Rupinder Singh Sandhu quarreled with Gurnam Singh, a resident of Patiala, over a parking space. According to sources, after an argument, Sidhu and his friend Gurnam Singh dragged him from the car and beat him up, after which he died in hospital. In 2018, the Supreme Court ordered Sidhu to pay a fine. 1000; However, Gurnam Singh’s family wanted a tougher sentence and asked the Supreme Court to review the 2018 order.
