Laura started her career as a registered nurse in 2014 at QE2 Hospital, Coopers Plains, Australia and worked there until 2018. She also worked as a registered nurse at Queensland Health. In 2018, he started working at Logan Hospital, Australia. While working as a nurse, in 2018 she decided she wanted to play professional cricket. In an interview, she talked about working as a nurse and said:
At first I wanted to be a physicist, but I saw that my older sister was studying it and it was two years of books, so I decided that it wasn’t for me, I didn’t enjoy being behind a desk. In 2018, she was part of the playing squad for Brisbane Heat and played in the 2018–19 and 2019–20 Women’s Big Bash League seasons.
In 2021, he was part of Northern Superchargers’ The Hundred of the 2021 season, in which he scored 61 runs in six matches.
In 2022, she became the first female player to score the fastest century in the National Women’s Cricket League after scoring 101 runs off 54 balls. In an interview, he spoke about his fastest hundred in the tournament and said:
