Kaajal has been working as a lawyer for more than eight years. Kaajal became involved in a high-profile criminal case in 1993 when he and his legal team defended Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Mumbai blasts case. They successfully secured bail for the actor, after which Kaajal gave up practicing for over eight years. In an interview, Kaajal spoke about why she left the profession after Sanjay Dutt said:
I am very tired of running back and forth between Arthur Road Prison and home. It was exhausting. It wasn’t for me. I don’t know whether I gave up law or law, but what happened was that after the Sanjay (Dutt) case, I was so tired that I took a break… and never came back. I just find the system takes too long and I’m someone who likes to see quick results. So I took my time and experimented.
In an interview, talking about leaving the practice, Kaajal Anand said that he was bored with the job and added,
It’s a cliché, but I believe that justice delayed is justice denied. I didn’t have the patience to wait years before passing judgment. This is a country where a man can bail after baking his wife in the tandoor. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I represented someone accused of rape… and got away with it. While I was frustrated, I quit.”

Kaajal said in an interview that he was bored of the legal profession and immediately jumped at the opportunity when Yash Birla offered him a business partnership.
I am very tired of the law. So Yash asked me and Avanti to do something with our lives. We did.”
Kaajal Anand co-owns the fashion boutique ‘Reverie’ with her close friends designer Manish Malhotra and businessman Avanti Birla. He worked there as an operations manager. Reverie is based out of Walkashewar in South Bombay; However, it disappeared. In an interview, he talked about how he could not work there and said:
If you see me, you will understand that fashion is not my field. I was a misfit. When you don’t have passion for something, you play that role badly.”
Later, he partnered with Avanti Birla and launched Yantra, an ultra-luxury furniture store called Yantra Furniture And Accessories Private Limited. After observing the growing number of furniture stores in the market, Kaajal changed its foray into skin care and launched a medical spa called Evolve, which was also a collaboration between Yash Birla Group and Pacific Healthcare. In an interview, he talked about how he wanted to bring his ideas to reality and said:
I toyed with this idea for a long time. I travel quite a lot and see how people in the West feel about cosmetic surgery; It is very common. But here is still a big thing – people have this fear. There is also a lot of misinformation and a lot of stubbornness.”
Kaajal Anand has been appointed as a director of several private companies, including Birla Lifestyle Private Limited (16 February 2001), Birla Concepts India Private Limited (17 March 2002), Global Entertainment Private Limited (15 December 2007), Deja-vu Entertainment Private Limited (6 April 2012). On 23 December 2015, he became a Body Corporate DP nominee at The Blowdry Bar Llp. He became a designated partner in Sonlight Productions Llp on June 30, 2015 and Hair Station Llp on August 16, 2017. In addition, he is associated with two companies, Birla Viking Travels Limited and Birla Wellness And Healthcare Private Limited.
