So we introduced an innovative policy to DD where we would buy a three-hour slot from them, play a film on it and also sell advertisements to make money. This policy was accepted and they gave the rights to NFDC who subsequently sold the slots to us. The government, we and the producers of the film all made money.”

In an interview in 2014, while talking about how his career flourished, Jiantial said that he had always dreamed of presenting a 3D version of Sholay on television. In addition, he added

he [Sholay] was still running in theaters and thus GP Sippy sahab did not want it on TV so that the normal price of Rs. He asked me 25 GEL for a movie on TV. 1.25 million, knowing that I would not be able to pay. But I decided. We convinced DD to treat Sholay as three films to give us three times more TV time for Rs. 1.25 crores and they did. Can you imagine that one show of Sholay would go on for around 9 hours because there were so many commercials and we played the songs twice? And even though we really worried the audience, the film had a record TRP of 76, which is still a benchmark. I earned both money and name through Sholay. I bought the rights to show it twice and then I went to Sony TV and convinced them to show it. “
