Jyoti Kapoor, the famous screenwriter and director, has accused Kunal Kohli of shamelessly copying his script for the film ‘Phir Se’. The charge was significant because Kohli, as a director and writer, was embroiled in copyright infringement controversy. Despite this, Kohli tried to justify himself by mentioning his collaborations with other writers, Renuka Kunzru and Shibani Bathia, without any problems. However, the Supreme Court, the highest judicial body, recognized similarities between Kapoor’s script and the plot of “Phir Se”, which supported his claims. The Supreme Court ruled that Kunal Kohli should pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and surrender the plot of the film. The whole matter was settled after an eight-month legal battle.
