And when they called me again for auditions, I was selected for Student of the Year (2012). So I couldn’t do it and lost the opportunity. Everyone tells me that I miss my college life.’

- He once shared that his childhood dream was to become a banker.
- In an interview, Manjot shared that he was initially turned down for the Hindi film ‘Oye Lucky! (2008). He said,
I had never acted before, not even in school plays. My parents took me to audition for ‘Oye Lucky’! Lucky Oye! After the audition, the casting director refused me the role. However, Dibakar Banerjee insisted on casting me, even though the casting director was not convinced, I just put my foot down.
Later, to prepare for the role, Manjot (who played the young Lucky Singh in the Abhay Deol-starrer) went to an acting workshop in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. He learned the walking style of Indian actor Abhay Deol and even used a cheek pad to make his jaw look like Abhay Deol’s.

After Fukrey, I think ek time aaya tha ke mere paas do saal tak kaam nahi tha (There was a time when I didn’t get a job for two years). So the offers that came that I didn’t want to do and the things that I wanted to do didn’t come to me. I was not happy with the offers I was getting. So that was the phase when I felt easy nahi hai (it’s not easy). I was sitting at home, studying and making movies. I was also making good money, (I thought) life was amazing. But the reality check tab pata chalta (you get a reality check) when you have to wait for the right thing. “
