Tanya Abrol made her Bollywood debut with the sports drama film Chak De! India, in which he played the role of Balbir Kaur. The film revolves around former hockey player Kabir Khan, whose image is tarnished by religious prejudice when India loses a hockey match against Pakistan. As the story unfolds, Kabir Khan coaches the Indian women’s national hockey team, which emerges victorious in the World Cup, proving his commitment to the nation.
The film won her the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, which she shared with the other cast members of the Indian women’s national hockey team. I went to the auditions at the Tagore Theater in Chandigarh just for fun so that we could all fit in the hostel ‘outside’! I didn’t know that I would be on the short list and they would call me to the city of Tineli.”
- In 2018, he was part of the Lucknow Nawabs team that emerged victorious in the Box Cricket League (BCL). BCL is an Indian sports reality television show that aired on MTV India. In the final, Lucknow Nawabs defeated two-time champions Delhi Dragons and Abrol won the girl of the match title.
