Randhir Raj Kapoor was born on Saturday 15 February 1947 (age 76; as of 2023) in Chembur, Bombay, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Mumbai). His zodiac sign is Aquarius. Before the partition of India, his family moved to Mumbai from Kapur Haveli in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) to pursue his acting career. Randhir is a high school graduate and went on to study at Colonel Brown Cambridge School, Dehradun. Randhir started his acting career in the 1970s.

Randhir first appeared in ‘Shree 420’ (1955) and ‘Do Ustad’ (1959) as a child artist. Randhir Kapoor made his acting and directorial debut with Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971), starring his wife, father and grandfather. The film did moderately well at the box office.
In 1972, Randhir worked in three consecutive films, namely Jetty, Rampur Ka Lakshmani and Jawani Deewani.
His lead film Rickshawala (1973) was a remake of MGR’s hit film Rickshawkaran (1971), opposite Neetu Singh as the new heroine; The film was a failure. After “Khazana” in 1987, he did not appear in films for 10 years.
Kapoor returned to acting after a 10-year hiatus with the 1997 film Ladies Only.
Producer
Randhir Kapoor began producing Henna (1991) with his father Raj Kapoor in 1988; Randhir took over the film as a director after his father’s death. The film, starring actor Rishi Kapoor and Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar, was a huge success. In 1996 he produced ‘Prem Granth’ starring Madhuri Dixit and Rishi Kapoor and in 1999 he produced ‘Aa Ab Laut Chale’, Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Khanna.

He became an assistant director on the film Jhuk Gya Aasman (1968) starring Rajendra Kumar. He later did ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ in 1971, which was also his debut film as an actor, followed by ‘Dharam Karam’ in 1975 and ‘Henna’ in 1991.
