Confrontation

The confrontation between Chaman and Bala continued

Sunny Singh’s ‘Ujda Chaman’ and Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Bala’ are both based on the concept of premature male pattern baldness. Both the films had very similar posters, concepts and even the release date. The whole argument was about copyright issues and clashing release dates. The makers of the film, Ujda Chaman, claimed that the makers of the film Bala had infringed their copyright as they noticed several similarities in the trailers, dialogues and even the script. Initially, Bala was supposed to release on 15 November 2019, but the makers pushed it to 8 November 2019, a day after Ujda Chaman was scheduled to release. To avoid the clash, the release date of Ujda Chaman was pushed back a week before the release of Bala and was scheduled to hit the screens on November 8, 2019. When asked about the controversy in an interview, he said:

I met Ayushmann Khurrana once before the release of both the films. He seemed quite offended by what was going on and it made me realize that I should just focus on their business. And despite the objections, I got the recognition I wanted as an actor.
