Shera aka Gurmeet Singh Jolly was born on Monday, 19 May 1969 (age 53; as of 2022) in Andheri, Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Taurus. He did his schooling at Sheth Chunilal Damodardas Barfivala High School in Mumbai. While he was in class 11 at Bhavan College, Mumbai, he dropped out of junior college to work in his father’s garage.

Bodybuilder
As a teenager, Shera started her career as a bodybuilder. After that, he participated in various bodybuilding competitions. In 1987, he won the Mr. Mumbai Junior title. In 1988, he participated in the Mr. Maharashtra Junior competition and finished in second position.

Salman Khan’s bodyguard
In 1995, she met Salman for the first time while working as a security team at Shera Wigfield’s concert. She later met Salman again at a party for Canadian actor Keanu Reeves. A few days later, while Salman Khan was attending a show in Chandigarh, the crowd got out of control. After the incident, Salman’s brother Sohail Khan decided to hire another bodyguard to protect Salman. Sohail then decided to hire Shera as Salman’s bodyguard. In the interview, Shera spoke about her initial work with Salman Khan. She said,
During one of the early assignments I was in Indore with Malik. We were driving down this very small road where there were a lot of fans and other people walking. There was only one small road to go and access, and we were running late. I’m a little tired too. He gave me a pill. Bole (Khan said) “Take this.” He gave me one dose of something. I had. You won’t believe it: I ran 8 km in front of his car to clear the road (for the fans). This was the work I did with Bhai. Since then, I have been like family to Maalik.”
Shera also shared that initially, he used to go a day before Salman’s shooting schedule to check the security arrangements and only after he was assured of his safety, he would escort Salman to the shooting locations. Shera once shared that the most difficult moment when she was Salman Khan’s bodyguard was Salman Khan’s hit and run and the Black Rooster case. According to him, he was taking Salman from court to court and felt bad for Salman’s condition. Shera was hiding Salman from the crowd and media at that time.

He once said that whatever he achieved in life was only because of Salman and whatever he did for Shera, no one would do it for the guard. Sharing her feelings about Salman in an interview, she said:
Maalik means sir and Salman Malik is everything to me. Who else in the industry has done something similar for his protection? I will bet my life for him. He is my God. Jab tak zinda hoon, bhai ke saat rahunga. I always tell people that they will never see me standing behind or beside Bai. I will be in front of him, looking for any danger. He added: “I am like a horse that is made up to carry the bridegroom at a wedding. I only worry about my Maalik (Salman) and wherever he goes, I am there. I am his Yes Man. Until today, whatever Maalik asked me, I did. That’s why I am a member of Malik’s family.”

In 2011, Salman Khan dedicated his Hindi film Bodyguard to Shera. In the film, Shera made a cameo appearance in the title track of the film. Salman even wore a security uniform with the logo of Shera’s security company ‘Tiger Security Services’. Shera spoke about this in an interview. She said,
He made this film (Bodyguard) on me, he made me dance, he started promoting it from me, he is wearing my company logo in the film, how many runs did he give me”.

In 2022, Shera Security Agency was hired to provide security for famous Canadian singer Justin Bieber while Justin was in India for his music concert “Justin Bieber Justice World Tour – India”. In the interview, Shera shared her experience of working with Justin. She said,
We went to Gateway of India (Mumbai) at night, and the next day to the slums near Shivaji Nagar. Next time I wanted to take her by helicopter, but she insisted on taking my car. He used my car. He wanted to drink coffee in the mall and got down on Vashi Road to go to Orbit Mall. He went to Starbucks and when he got there, things broke out and people started gathering. Before panic set in, I had to put her in a van and immediately booked a room at a nearby hotel for her safety.”

In October 2019, Shera joined the Indian political party Shiv Sena. The party took to its Twitter handle to share the news. The tweet said

Confrontation
Accused in assault case
On October 25, 2016, a man filed a case of physical assault against Shera at the DN Nagar police station. Shera was booked under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon or means), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (insulting with intent to provoke by dangerous weapon or means) and 34 (Indian Peace Code). However, Shera denied all such allegations and claimed that he was attacked by a group of people. She said,
Nothing happened on Tuesday. I went to Kokilaben Hospital to meet a friend, then went to Pop Tate’s where I had a verbal altercation on the phone but no physical altercation. The police came to my house in the morning and now I am going with them to the DN Nagar police station. I do not know the details of the accusation against me.”
According to the local police representative,
There were several people who tried to chase Shera’s car straight from Juhu to Andheri and tried to force it to stop by blocking the road, but it did not stop. CCTV footage shows that these people are planning to beat up Shera. However, the reason is still unknown.”
Shera was later found not guilty in this case.
