In 2005, he made his acting debut in the Hindi film ‘Fun – Sometimes It Can Be Dangerous’ as Ariyan. However, the film did not do well at the box office. He received critical acclaim for the Hindi film Anwar (2007), in which he played the title role.

Koirala is associated with an NGO called Lokajit. In 2018, he started working with Destination Entertainment Effects Production. Once he started the company Cormorant Foods Private Limited, a business of agriculture and allied activities. The company was later dissolved.
