Once, in a Facebook post, Bhagwant Man shared an anecdote in which he revealed that Seerat was hit in the head by a gun during an operation, right after he was born. Although he was in critical care for about ten days, he recovered. After spending his early childhood in Chandigarh, India, he moved with his mother and brother to Auburn, Washington after his parents divorced. From 2015 to 2018, he continued his studies at Auburn Mountainview High School, Auburn. From 2018 to 2022, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Washington, Seattle, majoring in Global Public Health and Law, Societies, and Justice (LSJ). At the university, she was also part of the Title IX Gender and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Program. He later also earned an AP Capstone Diploma.

Seirat Kaur’s father, Bhagwant Mani, is an Indian comedian, actor and politician. His mother’s name is Inderpreet Kaur. Seerat has a younger brother named Dilshan Mann (born 2004).

In March 2015, Seereat Kaur’s parents filed for divorce in the SAS Nagar court. The application was filed under Section 13-B of the Hindu Marriage Act for a decree of divorce by mutual consent. According to reports, Inderpreet was not in favor of Bhagwant Mann pursuing a career in politics. Consequently, Bhagwant Mann and Inderpreet Kaur started living separately. After their separation, Seerat and Dilshan moved to Auburn, Washington with their mother, while Bhagwant Mani juggled his time in India between Delhi and Mohali. Later, Bhagwant Mann publicly stated that he chose Punjab over his family. Known for using poetry in his political campaigns, Mann posted a poem on his Facebook account to express his feelings about the divorce, saying:
Jo latkeya si chiran ton o hal ho gaya, court ch eh faisla kal ho gaya, ek pasai parivar, duje pasai si parivar, chief tan yaro punjab de wal ho gaya.
(The long pending issue is settled. The court decided yesterday. I had to choose between one family and the other. I decided to go with Punjab)
Many believed that Bhagwant Mani was trying to get political mileage out of the divorce case.
2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly Elections
Seerat Kaur Mann grabbed media attention when Bhagwant Mani became the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab in 2022. Seerat and Dilshan attended their father’s swearing-in ceremony held on 16 March 2022 in the village of Khatkar Kalan, the birthplace of Indian revolutionary Bhagat Singh. Addressing the media at the venue, Seerat revealed that it was not until 2022 that he visited his father in 2017 when he was contesting for the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Jalalabad Assembly constituency. Talking about his CM father, he also said:
My father will work on unemployment issue in Punjab. I have high hopes for him and I know that he will fulfill all his promises.”

While studying health care, Serrat worked as a student research assistant at Seattle Children’s, a children’s hospital in Seattle’s Laurelhurst neighborhood. She worked there for five months and joined the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity as a student associate in September 2021. He was also part of the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Program. She earned certifications in the “Safe Every Step: Injury and Violence Prevention and the Developing Brain” and “Covid-19 Information Navigator” programs from the Northwest Community Health Practice Center. He also earned a certificate in the CITI program’s web-based course in Human Subjects Research (HSR).

- During the 2014 Indian general elections in Punjab, Bhagwant Mani contested from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket. At that time, Inderpreet was actively involved in her husband’s political journey, giving speeches in favor of AAP in villages in Sangur to help him win. Bhagwant Mann won the election defeating Sukhdev Singh Dhinda by 2,11,721 votes.

- She is actively involved with the Rivkin Center, a non-profit organization in Seattle, Washington that funds ovarian cancer research programs. She is a campus ambassador for the educational outreach program Rivkin EDU, which educates students at PAC 12 universities about breast and ovarian health.
