Early career
Priyanka Maurya started her career at Fly SpiceJet in 2008 as CEO. Later in 2012 he joined Dr. Janta Homeo Clinic to practice homeopathic medicines and having knowledge of homeopathic procedures and principles and deep knowledge of medical conditions and remedies. After gaining extensive knowledge, he set up his own private clinic named Doctor Janta Homeo Clinic to gain experience in helping patients with homeopathic medicines, extensive knowledge of homeopathic procedures and principles, and in-depth knowledge of medical conditions and remedies. He has been running his clinic for more than 8 years.

The Homeopathic Doctor is an active social worker and popular in Lucknow. Impressed by his social connections with the community, the Indian National Congress offered him to join their party, which he accepted and became a member of the Congress as the General Secretary of the IYC (UPE). It helps poor people get free medical advice during the Covid-19 and lockdown days by organizing blood drives and raising awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, nutrition and other health-related issues. His relationship with the people of the city was exemplary. Later, in 2020, he was promoted as the state vice-president for the Uttar Pradesh Mahila Congress. He also became the face of the Congress campaign ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’.

After a controversial dispute with the Indian National Congress, he left the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 22 January 2022.

Social work
Priyanka Maurya is an empathetic social worker. He is associated with many non-profit organizations to work for the needy people. In 2019, she joined “Indian Roti Bank” with the aim of providing free food and shelter to people of all communities in our country and they ensure that no community should be left behind. Priyanka Maurya also volunteers for various social charity events. Amidst the Covid 19 pandemic, he distributed food and ration packs to needy people in his city. Later in January 2020, he was appointed as the National Coordinator of the organization and started the Sanjeevan program for vulnerable and poor people to connect with a network of specialist doctors through a phone call and get medical advice for overall health.

Confrontation
The former Congress leader was embroiled in a major controversy when the Indian National Congress denied him a ticket. According to Priyanka, she was featured in the ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ poster to get votes from backward category voters as she herself belongs to the OBC category. She also alleged that the Congress party was distributing only UP assembly election tickets in the name of huge amount of money and also they did not want any OBC woman candidate to contest the elections through their party. She said,
I am sorry that despite my hard work in the constituency, I could not get a ticket for the UP Assembly elections. My face was used in the ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign. I was called on the landline and the caller asked me for the ticket money, but I refused. I completed all the tasks, but the ticket was scheduled in advance and was given to a person who came a month back. I want to send this message to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi that something like this is happening on the ground.”
He further added,
A slogan was heard that read ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon. But it remained only a slogan and was not implemented, because the girl did not get a chance to fight in the elections. I worked hard in my council district. I put my heart and soul into thinking that I would help people. But the Congress party had already decided on a candidate and I became another pawn for them. The party’s manifesto ‘Shakti Vidhan’, which features my picture on the front, is where the party has used me to woo the votes of women, OBCs.
Not happy with the Congress’s decision, he resigned from the party and came to talk to the BJP. When asked about joining the BJP during a media interaction, he replied:
probably yes. I worked a lot on the field, but the distribution of tickets was planned in advance. They didn’t give me a ticket, but I was a worthy candidate.”
Later on the evening of 20 January 2020, Priyanka Maurya joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. After joining the BJP, when asked by the media about his decision to join the party, he said:
I joined BJP for a better platform of social service…I have been working for Congress all the time…against their slogan, ‘Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun’, I have not been given a chance to fight.”
Adding to this he said:
People will say that if you don’t get a ticket, then you owe it to yourself to say so. Explore yourself and then find out. They told us that we should prepare for 2024. “Congress failed to defeat BJP’s ‘jumla’.”
