Political career
Hamza started his political journey in 2011 after being elected as the general secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Punjab. In 2008, he contested the general elections of Pakistan as an independent candidate but failed to win a seat. In 2008, he was elected as the Pakistan Muslim League (N) candidate to the National Assembly of Pakistan. He was re-elected to the National Assembly as a PML-N candidate in 2013 and 2018. In 2018, he was also elected to the Punjab Provincial Assembly as a PML-N candidate in the general elections of Pakistan. On 13 August 2018, he was nominated for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab by the PML-N but failed to win the seat. On 25 August 2018, he was nominated as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly by the PML-N and appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly on 6 September 2018.
