Career
In 2013, Lab Singh Ugoke became a volunteer member of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, India. Soon after joining the Aam Aadmi Party in Barnala district, he was appointed as a member of the monitoring committee called DISHA. Later, in the same district, he was appointed as the regional president of SC wing. Lab Singh Ugoke contested the March 2022 assembly elections from Bhadur constituency and won the election after defeating his opponent and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chan who contested from the same constituency on an Indian National Congress ticket. In the same election, Chan was also defeated by another AAP candidate who contested from Chamkaur Sahib constituency.

- Apart from being a politician, Lab Singh Ugoke also runs a mobile repair shop in his village. Shortly after graduation, he received a diploma in mobile repair. However, Lab Singh Ugoke closed his mobile repair shop in 2019.
- After winning the Punjab Assembly elections in March 2022, Lab Singh Ugoke told a press conference that his father worked as a driver and his mother was a cleaner at a government college in Punjab.
- According to an affidavit filed with the Election Commission of India, Lab Singh Ugoke only owns a Hero Honda motorcycle, which he purchased in 2014.
- Lab Singh Ugoke announced before the March 2022 Punjab Assembly elections that he would definitely defeat Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chan and the election results showed that Charanjit Singh Chan defeated Lab Singh by a huge margin of 37,558 votes.
- Labh Singh Ugoke’s family background is very humble. In one of the interviews with the media houses, he described himself as a common man and stated that Charanjit Singh Chan wore the mask of a common man who did not even know the names of the villages under his constituency. She said,
There are 74 villages in my district and I know the problems of all villages. For me, Bhadur is not a ‘halka’ (constituency) but my family. Chani Sahab does not even know the names of the 10 villages of Bhadur’s place”.
Lab Singh Ugoke alleged that Charanjit Singh Chan was ignoring the problems faced by the people of Bhadur constituency, and Lab Singh added in the same conversation that Chan was living life in a big way. He said Chan was simply seeking national media attention and not working on the ground. he stated
Channi sahab is not “aam admi”. Despite being from a Dalit family, he lives the life of a king. The only difference I have seen since Chan jumped into the fray from this seat is that the national media focus is on me to hold the CM.
