Yashaswi Jaiswal is an Indian all-rounder who played for Mumbai in domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is considered as a hard-hitting opening batsman and has scored hundreds of wickets in his cricketing journey.

Yashaswi Bhupendra Kumar Jaiswal was born on Friday 28 December 2001 (age 21 years; as of 2022) in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, Suriyavan, India. His zodiac sign is Capricorn. He was interested in cricket since childhood; However, he did not have access to educational facilities because he was in poor financial condition. In 2012, at the age of eleven, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his cricketing dreams. After moving to Mumbai, he met his uncle Santosh who had a small house; However, his uncle could not accommodate him as there was no room for him in the house. His uncle helped him get a job on a dairy farm where he was allowed to sleep. Yashaswi studied at Anjuman Islam Urdu High School, CST Mumbai during the day and played cricket in the afternoon, as a result of which he was unable to work effectively and was eventually expelled from the dairy farm.

He later joined the United Muslim Cricket Club in Azad Maidan, Mumbai, where he slept in a gardener’s tent. He started playing regular cricket in the club and in the evening he sold panipuri and fruits. Although he did not like to sell them, he sold them to support himself.

While practicing in the nets, he was spotted one day by coach Jwala Singh, who was impressed with his batting as he played smoothly on a hard pitch where other cricketers struggled. Jwala took him under his wing and gave him a place to stay, after which his father made Jwala Singh his legal guardian. After that he embarked on a cricketing journey and never looked back.

He made his debut in the Harris Shield tournament for Anjuman Islami Urdu High School, CST Mumbai in the 2012–13 season. During the Giles Shield tournament match, he scored 319 runs and took 13 wickets for 99 runs against Raja Shivaji Vidyamandir, which registered in the Limca Book of Records as the best inter-school all-round performance.

As he had confidence in his financial troubles, he was mentored by former Indian cricket legends Dilip Vengsarkar and Wasim Jaffer, and Vengsarkar also trained him at his academy, the Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation Academy.

He later played for Mumbai United Sports Club, Sachin Tendulkar XI and Mumbai Police Sports Club in various tournaments. He played for Mumbai Under-16, Mumbai Under-19, Mumbai Under-23 and Mumbai Domestic Cricket teams and emerged as a prolific batsman and run machine with over 50 centuries and over 200 wickets. He made his Ranji Trophy debut on 7 January 2019 against Chhattisgarh. He became the youngest double centurion in List A cricket with 203 runs off 154 balls against Jharkhand in the 2019-2020 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has played in the West Zone, India A and the rest of India in the domestic circuit.

In 2018, he was selected in the Indian U-19 squad and helped the team win the 2018 U-19 Asia Cup; He was the highest scorer with 318 runs and won the player of the tournament award. He later played for India 19 A and India Under 19 Red in various tournaments. Indian Premier League (IPL)
In the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 2.4 crore against his base price of Rs 20 lakh. He played his debut IPL match on 22 September 2020 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and scored 6 runs. On 2 October 2021, he made his maiden IPL fifty with 50 runs off 21 balls against CSK at a strike rate of 238.10. RR has retained it at 4 crores till the 2022 IPL mega auction. On 30 April 2023, he scored his maiden IPL hundred, scoring 124 runs off 62 balls against Mumbai Indians (MI) at a strike rate of 200. - He revealed during an interview that when he was living in tents at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, his coach Jwala Singh asked him to score runs in a match if he wanted to train and get accommodation at his academy. Yashaswi scored a run in that match and later started living in Jwala’s house which relieved the financial stress.
- When coach Jwala Singh started training him, he was very weak as he was struggling financially. It was later discovered that he had very weak knees, so Jvala worked on strength training under the advice of a nutritionist.
