Vinod Tawde is an Indian politician. He is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who started his political career as an Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) student activist and rose to the level of BJP General Secretary. He has served in many key positions in the Maharashtra government, including the Leader of the Opposition Prithviraj Chavan’s government and the Education, Sports, Culture and Marathi Language Minister Devendra Fadnavis government.

Vinod Tawde began his political career in 1980, joining the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In 1988, Vinod was appointed as the General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and in 1993, he rose to the position of National Secretary.
In 1995, Vinod joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as an active member. Appointed BJP-Maharashtra General Secretary; He was the general secretary of the party for four years. In 1999, he became the youngest president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai region. He was the president of the party for twelve years. In 2008, Vinod was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. In 2011, he was elected as the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council during the Prithviraj Chavan government.
In 2014, Vinod Tawde won the Maharashtra Assembly elections from Borivali constituency by 80,000 votes and became a member of the Legislative Assembly. Devendra Fadnavis placed him in his cabinet as Minister of School Education, Higher and Technical Education, Marathi Language, Cultural Affairs and Sports.
During his tenure, he took many public interest initiatives including the Human Organ Transplantation Act, Maharashtra Council for International Education and Pustakanch Gaavi.
In 2019, he was appointed as the national secretary of the BJP and in 2021 as the general secretary of the party under the chairmanship of Jagat Prakash Nada.

Counterfeit Quality Controversy
In 2015, Leader of the Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil demanded the resignation of Tawdi, who holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in electronics from Pune’s Sant Dnyaneshwar University. If you can’t pay the fees, get a job and drop the idea of studying. “
