Vijay Anand (1934–2004) was an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, editor and actor, known for his work in Hindi cinema with films such as Guide (1965), Teesri Manzil (1966), Jewel Thief (1967) and Johny Mera Naam (1977). From directing nerve-wracking thrillers and romantic comedies to sentimental classics and family dramas, Vijay, the younger brother of filmmaker Chetan Anand and matinee idol Dev Anand, has made most of his films under the family’s production house Navketan Films. His films were known for their vision and artistic approach.

Vijay Anand’s first marriage was with Loveline. According to reports, Vijay Anand met Lovelin for the first time when she gave an interview on behalf of Radio Moscow. Seeing Lovelin’s beauty, Vijay Anand offered her the lead role in the Hindi romantic film Jaan Kazir Hai (1975). During the filming of the film, Lovelin began a relationship with Vijay Anand and became fascinated by the attire he wore as a disciple of Osho Rajneesh. Vijay eventually introduced the teachings of Osho Rajneesh to Lovelin, who completely captivated her. According to some sources, both of them frequented Rajneesh’s ashram in Pune and spent around ten days a month there. Lavlin’s faith in Osho Rajneesh grew and so did his feelings for Vijay Anand, and he decided to move from Delhi to Rajneesh’s ashram in Pune. Lovelin later proposed to Vijay Anand; However, he refused the offer, saying that he had nothing but a few clothes and shoes. This could not shake Lovelin’s decision to marry Vijay Anand. She later turned down the offer for the film ‘Jaan Hazir Hai’, thinking that Vijay did not want her to be his wife in films. Lovelin kept reassuring Vijay that the only thing that mattered to him was spending the rest of his life with him. According to reports, one day, Guru Rajneesh called Lovelin and Vijay Anand to his private chamber and gave Lovelin’s hand in Vijay’s hand. Vijay Anand married Lovelin and continued his married life in Pune with the blessings of Osho Rajneesh. Everything was going well until one day Lovelin expressed his desire to continue working in films and asked Vijay Anand to write a script in which he was the hero against the superstar. According to sources, Vijay decided not to pay much attention to Lavlin’s request, but later his desire to become a heroine grew stronger day by day. These demands took the form of a heated argument between the couple as Vijay wanted to get away from the fake world of showbiz and wanted to continue working at the ashram. Some sources also claim that Vijay’s mental health suffered due to frequent fights and arguments. Due to frequent fights and arguments with Lovelin, Vijay decided to end this failed marriage.

- Vijay Anand believed in spirituality and astronomy and was a disciple of Guru Rajneesh, a mystic and spiritual master; However, he stopped following Osho Rajneesh after some time when he could not find solutions to his personal life problems. According to Vijay’s son Vaibhav, Vijay Anand had some questions for Rajneesh which he could not answer and Vijay realized that there is no God in Rajneesh.
