Soumya Manish Tiwari was born on Friday, March 11, 2005 (age 18 years; as of 2023) in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Pisces. From 2023, Soumya is pursuing her 12th standard at St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School, Bhopal. Prone to sports from a young age, Soumya grew up playing cricket with a tapi tapki (a wooden stick for washing clothes under the tap) and paper balls. Living in a joint family in Shahjahanabad Residency in Old Bhopal, Soumya often watched cricket on TV as a child. Soon the taap tapki was replaced with a plastic bat and Soumya started playing mohalla cricket with her local boys. According to her father, Soumya used to come home many times and complain about the boys who refused to join her team. Later, her family moved to Gautam Nagar, New Bhopal, where Soumya started playing cricket on the ground. After noticing his passion for the sport, his elder sister took him to the Arera Cricket Academy at the Old Campion ground in Bhopal for coaching. The academy’s cricket coach, Suresh Chainan, wary of the girls’ studies, refused to train Soumya. Frustrated by the coach’s rejection, Sumia cried continuously for two days and then again went to the academy and asked the coach to accept her. Finally, the coach agreed to train during the summer break. Soumya was 11 years old at that time. The coach initially trained Soumya as a spinner before training him to bat.

I protested as they allowed in the first turn but gave up after our batting as Soumya had made a name for himself as a spinner in the local circuit. He came to me and said that he will sit out because his team should not be disqualified and should win. We won the match but his team spirit told us about his love of winning.
