In 2013, Praveen became a member of Rajasthan Royals and played for the team till 2015. In February 2017, he was bought by the team Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 10 GEL. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 IPL auction. In an interview, Pravin talked about his debut in cricket at the age of 40 and said:
I am passionate about the game. I’ve always played for fun. I was not worried about anything. My goal was just to bowl the correct length.

Praveen was included in the Mumbai Ranji squad in 2000, but he was unable to play in that match. In 2013-2014, he played for the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy. On 25 February 2017, he played in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

- Praveen received the Golden Wicket Award for taking the most wickets in the 2013 Champions League tournament.
- On 5 May 2014, he scored a hat-trick against Kolkata Raiders in Ahmedabad and also won the Man of the Match award.

- In an interview, Pravin talked about the biopic ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe’, which was made on his cricketing journey, and said;
