In May 2012, Solanki and his supporters allegedly clashed with traffic police after they protested the tinted windows of his car. He was stopped by the police in Faridabad while he was on his way to Delhi from Kanpur. Solanki tried to persuade the police to let him go by telling them that he was an MLA, but they insisted on removing the black tape from the car windows as tinted windows were illegal. After this, Solanki and his supporters allegedly engaged in a brawl and beat up the police, after which Solanki had to pay a fine of Rs 2,000. The incident embarrassed UP CM Akhilesh Yadav as he vowed to end crime and hooliganism after fearing that the Samajwadi Party’s return to power would add to “Gondaism” in the state.

In 2011, an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted bail against Solanki and Minister for Persons with Disabilities Shivpal Singh Yadav for cutting a cake in the colors of the Indian national flag. The cake was cut by the Samajwadi Party leaders on the birthday of SP leader Harmohan Singh on October 18, 2010. Doctors are lined up

On February 28, 2014, Solanki was attacked by junior doctors at Ganesh Shankar Vidharti Memorial Medical College in Swarop Nagar, Kanpur. Apparently, the junior doctor’s car was rammed from behind by another car driven by an old man named Qadir Ali near the Swaroop Nagar petrol pump. Accordingly, the junior doctor and his friends began to rough up the old man. Solanki, who intervened to protect the old man, was engaged by junior doctors who also damaged his car and assaulted his driver and gunman. Enraged by the incident, the MLA’s supporters rioted. More than a hundred Samajwadi Party musclemen or gonds sparked violence by entering the medical college hostel and started beating students and professors. Solanki’s supporters took to the streets to raise anti-police slogans. They also pelted stones at passing vehicles and damaged many parked vehicles. Agitated local shopkeepers pulled down their shutters. After the outbreak of tension, a strong police force comprising PAQC and RAQF reached the spot to control the situation. As a result of the incident, several policemen, journalists and civilians were seriously injured. A large team of policemen led by SSP Yashashvi Yadav entered GSVM Medical College campus without the permission of Principal Dr Navneet Kumar and collared them. After the incident, thousands of doctors went on strike at hospitals in Uttar Pradesh, describing Samajwadi Party rule as “gunda raj” and demanding Solanki’s arrest. Doctors have alleged that several doctors in UP were mercilessly beaten and dragged by policemen after the GSVM Medical College incident. Health services across Uttar Pradesh were badly affected and several dozen patients died during the strike. After the six-day strike by doctors in UP, Solanki was booked on charges of attempt to murder, rioting and causing voluntary hurt. An FIR against Solanki was lodged at Swarup Nagar police station on the complaint of Himanshu Kumar Singh, a medical student, who was injured in the February 28 encounter. Solanki then held a press conference where he introduced Qadir Ali and stated that he had entered only to save him. The protests prompted the Uttar Pradesh government to transfer SSP Yashaswi Yadav from Kanpur to the DGP’s office in Lucknow.
