He is part of Shiv Sena’s youth wing Yuva Sena but left the party in 2023. In 2017, he contested the BMC elections from Constituency No. 178, Kohinoor Mills and won the election.
Confrontation
In January 2021, he was embroiled in controversy when ex-military officer Sujit Apte filed a complaint against Amy, accusing him of making death threats. He filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court after the Mumbai Police refused to lodge an FIR against it. In the petition, he said the Mumbai police did not help him because they were pressured by politicians. In an interview, Sujith said the problem started when the municipal authorities demolished an illegal Sai Baba Mandir built on a lane of his property. He claimed that the temple was built near a slum and many people were squatting in illegal buildings and freely consuming alcohol and smoking drugs. He also said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, these activities were still carried out in the temple and even after a complaint was filed, no action was taken against them. On December 11, 2020, the HC ordered the demolition of the temple. On 13 December 2020, after the structure was demolished, Amy arrived at Sujith’s house with the local goons. In the interview, Apte recalled what Ambi told him and said:
Because of you, they destroyed our temple. That temple belonged to our voters. They could use whatever they wanted. Who are you to interfere? Now my constituents would sit on the footpath by your property and do chara and ganja or whatever they want.”
He also ordered Apte to remove all the security installed on his property by December 16 as they wanted to restore the Sai Baba temple. And he asked the goons to sit in front of Apte’s house and drink, smoke or do whatever they wanted.

- In July 2017, RJ Malishka played a song titled “What do you trust Mumbai BMC?” on Red FM. The song became popular within minutes, after which other radio channels started campaigning about it. Shiv Sena corporator Solanki Sarvankar and Ami told municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta to take legal action against Red FM and Malishka for defaming the municipal corporation. The song was about the BMC not working properly as there was a lot of traffic in Mumbai and the trains were not maintained properly. - In 2020, Amy filed a demolition suit against Lalit Restaurant & Bar in Dhobitalao. The Bombay High Court criticized its demolition decision. Restaurant owner Lalit D’Souza said in the petition that the municipal corporation takes action only when a complaint is registered by politicians. Ay said in the complaint that the restaurant building was illegally built in the gully of the house. Lalit then submitted in the petition that the building was constructed in 1973 and since then the business was registered by the BMC. Amy’s lawyer said BMC sent a notice that was posted on the restaurant’s wall, but they didn’t receive it because it was closed due to COVID-19. The judges in the order said: “We are first of all satisfied that the Corporation acted promptly after receiving the complaint, but it was not granted.

- In December 2020, to resolve civil issues, he invited the citizens of Wadala to join him as representatives so that the people could participate in resolving civil issues. According to him, the representatives will act as mediators to raise civil issues and suggest improvements. He received more than 150 requests from his ward and there were many people who wanted his ‘Join Team Corporator’ initiative.

In the letter, he wrote to Aditya and also said that he wrote to Aditya about the problem but did not get any response from her. In an interview, he talked about it and said:
My friendship with Adita is not limited only to politics and I expect to continue our friendship in the future. I tried hard to resolve the internal conflict, but I couldn’t. In the end, I had to leave the party. Now I am joining Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena.
