Iltiya Mufti is the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti. He came into the public eye after he first tweeted from his mother’s Twitter account 46 days after the Indian government arrested his mother before abrogating Article 370 on 5 August 2019. Since then, he runs his mother’s Twitter account and criticizes the restrictions imposed in Kashmir.

Iltiya Mufti was born in 1987 (age 33 years; as in 2020) in Kashmir. He completed two years of schooling in Kashmir and then moved to Delhi where he completed the last part of his formal education. Graduated in Political Science from Sri Venkateswara College (Delhi University). He then moved to the UK and completed an MA in International Relations from the University of Warwick in Coventry, England. As of 2020, he has returned from the UK and is living in Kashmir.
