Jitendra Satish Avhad was born on Monday, August 5, 1963 (age 60; as of 2023) in Nashik, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Leo. He completed his studies at St. John the Baptist High School in Tan. According to some sources, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Bombay (later renamed the University of Mumbai) in 1986, although other sources suggest that he completed his marine engineering studies at the University of Mumbai. Some sources say that he went on to do his Masters in Personnel Management from the University of Mumbai, however, some other sources say that he completed his Masters in Labor from the University of Mumbai in 1989. In 2013, he completed his PhD in “History of Socio-Religious Movements in Maharashtra, A Sub-Alternative Perspective” at the University of Mumbai. During his college days, Jitendra was appointed as the Gymkhana Secretary and later became the All India Student Organization Secretary. As president of the Akhil Bhartiya Vanjara Youth Association, he joined the student wing of the Indian National Congress, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). In 1988, he became the general secretary of the Maharashtra unit of the National Union of Students of India. In 1991, he was appointed as the All India NSUI General Secretary. From 1988 to 1995, he worked as an Assistant Labor Officer in Core India Limited, also in Thane. In 1996, he became the president of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress.

Career
Jitendra Avhad was appointed as the first National President of the Youth National Congress Party in 1999 after the formation of the NCP. He was elected as a member of the Legislative Council twice in 2002 and 2008. In October 2009, he contested the first election to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the constitt (Numbrahane-K). He won the elections with 15,689 votes. In 2014, he was re-elected Member of the Legislative Assembly from Mumbra-Kalwa (Thana) Constituency and became Minister of Medical Education, Horticulture and Employment Guarantee. It has roped in famous Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan as its brand ambassador to promote horticulture in Maharashtra. In 2019, he again contested the Legislative Assembly elections from Mumbra-Kalwa (Thane) constituency and defeated Deepali Syed of the Shiv Sena Party by 75,639 votes; He became the housing minister in Thackeray’s ministry.

After NCP chief Sharad Pawar resigned in May 2023, Jitendra Awadh also resigned as national general secretary. In an interview, he said
We have been devoted followers of Sharad Pawar for several decades now. All along, Pawar said that the mandate of the people is very important in a democracy. Without consulting senior party leaders, Pawar unilaterally resigned from the party. In my opinion, Pawar’s decision is against his own principles. The Engineer Assault Case
An assault case was filed by civil engineer Ananth Karmuse for abducting and assaulting him on the night of April 5, 2020 over the morphed pictures of Jitendra Awadi he posted on social media. In his statement, he stated that he was abducted by some policemen and taken to Awhad’s house, where he was assaulted by the policemen and members of Awhad’s bodyguards; He even posted pictures of the marks on his back on social media. Jitendra Awhad was arrested on charges of assault but later released on bail. The fourth charge sheet was filed in the case in May 2023.

Resignation due to FIR
Two cases were registered against Jitendra Avhad in November 2022. The defamation case was filed by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rida Rashid; He claimed that he was forced by Jitendra during the inauguration event. He said in an interview about the incident

He was convicted in another case in November, two days before the molestation case, for disrupting the night show of the film Har Har Mahadev at Thane Theatre. A note on the film The Story of Kerala
A case of unconscious offense was registered against Jeetendra over a remark he made on the controversial film ‘Kerala Story’ by an activist at the Vartak Nagar police station. Jeetendra told a news channel that the incidents shown in the film are fake. Jeetendra allegedly says the film’s producer should be publicly hanged for insulting the women of Kerala.
