Baishal Dalmiya was born on Tuesday, April 22, 1969 (age 53; as of 2022) in Calcutta, India. He was brought up in Kolkata. Later, he went on to do his undergraduate studies at Ranchi University and graduated in 1992.

Career
On September 27, 2001, Baishal Dalmiya joined ML Dalmiya & Co. Ltd. as Whole Time Director. He joined politics as a member of the All India Trinamool Congress in 2016. He got a ticket to contest the Legislative Assembly elections from Bally Assembly Constituency. He won the state assembly election and represented the Bali assembly constituency from 2016 to 2021. On January 22, the Trinamool Congress of India expelled him for anti-party activities. Just a week later, on 30 January 2021, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Amit Shah along with four other candidates including Rathin Chakraborty, Rajib Banerjee, Rudranil Ghosh and Prabir Ghoshal in New Delhi.

However, he lost the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Bali Assembly Constituency. He lost the election to Dr. Rana Chatterjee, the candidate of the Trinamool Congress of India.

- In April 2013, he was assaulted by two young men while returning home in his Mercedes. Both men were in a Honda City and damaged his car as well. Baishal called the policemen who were there and the police took them to New Alipore police station. Baishal followed them and lodged a complaint against both of them, following which the cops arrested them under sections 354D (for stalking a woman), 279 (harsh driving), 427 (damaging another vehicle) and 338 (causing injury to a vehicle).
- On April 13, 2015, Calcutta Leather Complex Tanners’ Association filed a complaint against ML Dalmiya & Co. Ltd. and its directors, including Baishal Dalmiya and his brother Avishek, for misappropriating funds invested by the government in the construction of the Kolkata Leather Complex, which was to take place after the pipeline was laid. According to UN guidelines, wastewater pipelines require highly durable and non-corrosive HDPE pipelines to transport toxic wastewater. After the complaint was filed, the police reached the spot for inspection and there were no HDPE pipes, RCC and brick sewer pipes were used. An FIR was then lodged against the company and its directors.
- In July 2019, Tafzil Ahmed, councilor of Ward 58, Howrah Municipal Corporation, commented on Baishal in an internal meeting. He commented that he had collected the cut amount as an illegal commission from the beneficiaries of the government’s welfare scheme. After this accusation, he protested against her and asked her to prove her accusation or be ready to face legal action. After this incident he said:
His (Ahmed) accusation is completely false. I have never received any money from anyone. I am also a director of ML Dalmiya & Co and I do not need to earn this way.
- On 5 March 2021, All India Trinamool Congress poll agent Tajbil Ahmed filed a complaint against Baishal Dalmiya for concealing material facts in her election nomination form. According to Chatterjee, Baishal did not provide full information and has three criminal cases against him in the nomination papers. He pointed out two cases against him, out of which two were filed against the Kolkata Leather Complex Police Station and one was filed against the Rabbit Street Police.
