He became a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Kotputli constituency in 2018. In the same year, he was appointed the Minister of State for Rajasthan and was given the charge of the Home & Justice department. He was also given independent charge of various departments including Higher Education, Planning (Manpower), State Motor Garage, Language and Library. He is the managing director of Yadav Foods Ltd. and the director of Rajasthan Flexible Packaging Limited.

Legislative Assembly Of Rajasthan
In 2008, Rajendra Singh Yadav fought his first MLA election from the Kotputli district but lost by a close margin of 893 votes to LSWP’s Ramsarup Kasana. He fought the election for the second time in 2013 and was elected as an MLA from Kotputli, Rajasthan. He remained a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for a decade, from 2013 to 2023, winning two consecutive terms. He is credited for breaking the tradition of an MLA not getting elected for the second term in Kotputli since the independence of India in 1947. In 2023, Rajendra Singh Yadav lost his seat to the BJP candidate, Hansraj Patel Gurjar, by a close margin of 321 votes.
Minister Of State
Rajendra Singh Yadav was made Rajasthan’s Minister of State soon after he was elected as an MLA for the second term, in 2018. As a Minister Of State, he was given charge of various departments throughout his tenure, including the Ministry of Library (2021-2023), Higher Education (2021-2023), Ministry of Home and Justice (2021-2023), Ministry of Motor Garage (2018-2023), Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (2018-2021), Ministry of Language (2018-2023), and Planning Department (2018-2023).
District Incharge

Bill against paper leak –
In February 2022, Rajendra Singh Yadav introduced a bill to prevent cheating, the use of unfair means, and the leaking of exam papers. The bill states that the culprits caught may face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to Rs. 1 crore. The bill was introduced after the papers for the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) were leaked, resulting in the cancellation of the examination.
Gyandoot 2.0
In January 2022, as the Higher Education Minister of Rajasthan, Rajendra Singh launched Gyandoot 2.0, an online education program to help students learn and prepare for exams. In an interview, he stated that the College Education Department has taken the initiative to prepare e-content for students in different subjects so that they can access the content any time in Hindi language. The program also includes online live sessions which will help students to clear their doubts.
Controversy
IT and ED raid
On 7 September 2022, Rajendra Singh Yadav’s home and factories in Rajasthan, Gurugram, and Uttarakhand were raided by the Income Tax (IT) department in connection with the alleged mid-day meal scam. Rajendra Singh talked about the raid in an interview and said,
The IT department officials came to my premises at 8 am today. They also raided my locations in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Gurugram, where my children and family do business. The search operation is underway, everything will be clear soon.”
On 26 December 2023, around 10 locations of Rajendra Singh and his associates were raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) department for the alleged mid-day meal scam.

We are considering putting some checks on their hoardings and boards. They market theirinstitutes by highlighting the toppers but don’t say how many students study at their institutes. If20,000 students take coaching at your institute and, out of them, 30 are toppers, then this issomething natural.”
