Dilip Walsh Patil was born on Tuesday, 30 October 1956 (age 64; as of 2020) in Nirgudsar village, Pune, Maharashtra. His full name is Dilip Dattatray Walse Patil and his zodiac sign is Scorpio. Patil studied from Nirgudsari District Board School. Dileep completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Ruya College, Mumbai in 1978, followed by a Diploma in Journalism from Siddharth College, Mumbai in 1979. He then decided to study law, for which he obtained his LLB and LLM degrees from the Government Law College, University of Mumbai, with honors in 1988. After completing his formal education, Patil’s father, Dattatrai Gavindrao Walsh Patil, placed him as his personal assistant to Sharad Pawar, then a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress. Patil entered active politics under the mentorship of Sharad Pawar and has since led a successful political career spanning three decades.

Dileep started his political career in 1990 by successfully contesting the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections from Ambegaon constituency on an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket. He successfully retained the Ambegaon seat in all the legislative elections held since then.
