Career

Bhupendra Patel was the Member of Memnagar Municipality from 1995 to 1996, from 1999 to 2000 and from 2004 to 2006. From 2008-10, he served as the Chairman of the Ahmedabad School Board. In 2012, Bhupendra Patel floated the idea of ​​reducing fees for builders to encourage a regulatory scheme for buildings, and he received appreciation for the initiative from then chief minister Narendra Modi. He served as councilor of Thaltej Ward from 2010 to 2015. During the same period, Bhupendra Patel also served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. From 2015 to 2017, he was the Chairman of Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). During his tenure at AUDA, he accelerated infrastructure projects including flyovers and roads in Sanand and Bhopal. In 2017, he was elected MLA from Ghatlodia constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections. He was preceded by Anandiben Patel. In this election, Bhupendra Patel defeated his opponent Shashikant Patel of the Indian National Congress by 1,17,000 votes.
