Arya Rajendran is a young politician from Kerala and Communist Party of India (Marxist) incumbent Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. He was appointed mayor at the age of 21, equaling Suman Kohli’s (elected mayor of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation in 2009) record of becoming India’s youngest mayor.

Arya Rajendran was born on Tuesday 12 January 1999 (age 23; as of 2022) in Mudavanmugal, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She completed her schooling from Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, Trivandrum and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Cotton Hill. He is currently pursuing BSc Mathematics at All Saints College, Trivandrum (2019-present). After ruling the city administration as Thiruvananthapuram’s mayor, Arya is determined to shoulder her political responsibilities with equal focus on her studies.

His father Rajendran (an electrician) and mother Sreelatha (an insurance agent) have been loyal to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for nearly three decades. His elder brother, Aaravind, works as an automotive engineer in Abu Dhabi.

Relationships/affairs
She is in a relationship with Sachin Dev who is considered to be the youngest MLA in the Kerala Assembly. They became good friends as SFI activists.
Political career
Arya became associated with the CPI (M) at a tender age when she joined Balasangam, the children’s organization of the CPI (M), in the 5th grade. After reaching college, he joined the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the CPI(M). He is currently Balasangam State President and State Office Holder of SFI. He successfully contested the 2020 Kerela Civic Body Elections on a CPI (M) ticket and was elected as Municipal Councilor from Mudavanmugali District and Mayor from Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. He got 54 votes from the 100 members of the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, defeating BJP candidate Simi Jyoti who polled 35 votes in the mayoral election. The CPI (M) is believed to have trusted him as its mayoral candidate from Thiruvananthapuram based on his performance record as the state president of its children’s organization, Balasangam.

- Aria spends a lot of free time in music, poetry and reading books. Malayalam author KR Meera is one of her personal favorite authors.
- She is the third woman from the CPI (M) to head the city’s local government as mayor.
