declared “absconder”
On 12 October 2019, an FIR was lodged against Abbas Ansari by the then Inspector-in-Charge of Mahanagar Police Station Ashok Singh. In the FIR, it was alleged that Abbas obtained the gun license from Lucknow and then it was taken to Delhi where he bought many guns. Charges were filed against him on December 24, 2020. Later, the court issued an arrest warrant for Abbas for fraudulently purchasing multiple guns with one gun license. Various agencies were called against him, but Abbas did not appear in court. The MP-MLA court even extended his remand three times, but in repeated absence from the court, special ACJM of the MPMLA court Ambrish Srivastava declared Abbas “absconding” at the request of the police by issuing 82 Criminal Procedure Code against him. The court also issued a notice of attachment of his property, an outstanding warrant and a notice against him. Although Ansari sought anticipatory bail, the court denied it. The court, while rejecting the appeal, said:
Serious allegations are being made that the accused applicant fraudulently registered a gun license and obtained large quantities of prohibited barrels, guns and cartridges for the purpose of obtaining firearms; And he has procured arms and cartridges which are prohibited in the practice of shooting and contrary to the Government of India notification dated 4.8.2014”.
The court also stated
Also, in view of the fact that the accused-applicant has been absconding from the trial against which the charges have been framed, this Court does not find any reason to grant anticipatory bail to the accused-applicant”.
He was arrested for money laundering
