In June 1969, she began working as a haute couture model for Pierre Cardin Ltd. in Paris and Los Angeles. There he worked as a fashion designer and model.

In 1986, he began working as a perfumer at ArtisanParfums in Ojai, California. From 1988 to 1989, he worked as a marketing director and teacher at Aroma Vera in Los Angeles, California. In April 1989, he founded Essence Aromatherapy, an aromatherapy products and services company in California. He launched a wellness product called Vibrating Aroma Therapy by Ixchel in June 1992. He was invited as a guest speaker and teacher at various seminars and conferences. Susan also worked as an adjunct therapist. In 2008, he began working as a writer and wrote books such as Soul Masala – The Alchemy of Life, Love and Fragrance, Vibrational Aromatherapy and The Perfume Alchemist.
