Raj Zutshi is an Indian actor who is known for his work in Bollywood. He has acted in more than 100 Hindi films during his acting career of more than 4 decades.

Rajendranath Zutshi (popularly known as Raj Zutshi) was born on Saturday, 4 February 1961 (age 63 years; as of 2024) in Delhi, India. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. He did his schooling at The Scindia School, Gwalior from where he passed out in 1977. He later studied at a college in Delhi. He was interested in reading poems and acting in plays while studying. He later moved to Hyderabad where he joined a theatre group and felt very happy to act in theatre.

He later moved to Bangalore and started working in an advertising agency. While working in Bangalore, he met a film director and Indian actor Nana Patekar who told him to come to Mumbai. He shifted to Mumbai and became a professional actor.

He got married to Nuzhat Khan, a clinical psychologist and daughter of filmmaker Nasir Hussain and sister of film director and producer, Mansoor Khan, in 1989; Nuzhat is a cousin of Aamir Khan. His stepson (from Nuzhat’s first marriage with software engineer Anil Pal), Imran Khan, is an actor. They got divorced in 2005.

His paternal grandfather, Dina Nath Zutshi, was a radio and theatre artist.

He dated Nuzhat Khan for a few years. In 2007, there were rumours that he was dating the actress Sarika whom he denied and said that they were only friends.

Film

Hindi

After coming to Mumbai in the early 1980s, he auditioned for a film to be directed by Ketan Mehta. His debut Hindi film was Holi in 1984 in which he played the role of Rajendra Zutshi. He later appeared in many films including Parda Hai Parda (1992), Maachis (1996), Lagaan (2001), Love Aajkal (2009), and Article 370 (2024).

His first English film was American Daylight in 2004; he played the role of Nirmal in the film. He later appeared in the popular film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). In 2012, he acted in his debut Assamese film titled Ekhon Nedekha Nodir Xhipare.

He made his Hindi TV debut with a small role in Ek Tha Rusty in 1995, aired on Doordarshan. He later appeared in Mrityunjay (1996) broadcast on Doordarshan and Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon (2012), aired on Colors TV.
