Priyansh Vishwakarma is an Indian politician, a member of the BJP, who kills a girl named Vedika Thakur in 2023 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He is the owner of Leela Group of Builders and Developers, a company based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

In 2016, Priyansh’s wife accused him of dowry and physical abuse. As a result, a case was registered against him at the Barela police station in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The charges filed included sections 498-A and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, which deal with cruelty to a husband or his relatives, as well as sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, which prohibits giving or receiving dowry.
Arrested for Vedika Thakur’s murder
In 2023, Priyansi was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a girl named Vedika. The police have registered a case against him at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station citing charges under Section 308 of the IPC, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

On June 16, 2023, Priyansh allegedly shot a woman named Vedika Thakur at her office located in Dhanwantari Nagar. Vedika was seriously injured in the incident. Instead of seeking emergency medical help, he drove for about four hours with Vedika in his car. He eventually took her to Smart City Hospital for treatment, but left the hospital premises with the pistol used in the shooting and CCTV footage from his office. He also contacted Vedika’s brother about the incident. On 18 June 2023, a video surfaced in which Vedika Thakur admitted that Priyanshi was responsible for shooting him.

On June 19, 2023, he was arrested by the police from Narsinghpur district. After his arrest, he confessed to shooting Vedika. He arrived at the Dhanvantri Nagar police station in a black scorpion with a BJP flag on it. Initially, the police did not file a case against him for 24 hours. However, after Vedika’s relatives raised questions and concerns about the delay, a case was finally registered against her at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station. The charges included Section 308 of the IPC, which deals with culpable homicide not being murder, as well as Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

According to Ashok Thakur, Vedika’s uncle, her initial condition showed signs of improvement after the incident. However, his condition worsened due to the presence of a bullet in his back, which caused an infection that spread throughout his body. As a result, Vedika underwent stomach surgery and on June 24, 2023, doctors decided to put her on a ventilator. Unfortunately, his organs began to fail and on June 26, 2023, at around 11:30 a.m., doctors pronounced him dead. Doctors noted that his organs are constantly functioning and it was impossible to remove the bullet from the spinal cord.

After Vedika’s untimely death, the police have upgraded the charge against Priyansh to murder. The police sent the bullet recovered from Vedika’s body to the forensic laboratory.

In response to the incident, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) issued an official statement denying Priyansh’s claim of association with their party. BJP Jabalpur President Prabhat Sahu issued a press release saying,
Priyansh Vishwakar, a resident of Ganganagar, the suspect in the latest shooting, has not held any position in the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
