Naveen Jaihind is an Indian politician, yoga trainer and social worker. He is the former president of Haryana Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is known for leading several campaigns for the Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana, establishing himself as a key figure in their political efforts.

Naveen Jaihind was born on Monday, June 1, 1981 (age 42; as of 2023) in Bhainsru Kalan village of Rohtak district in Haryana, India. In 2013, he received his PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Physical Education from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Naveen appeared for the Haryana Staff Selection Commission exam to become a Physical Training Instructor (PTI), which he managed to clear in October 2020. He holds a Master’s degree in Physical Education from Maharishi Dayanand University.

In 2019, he urged the people of the Brahmin community to defend themselves against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Haryana government. Naveen asked the public to stand guard when Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar threatened to behead Harsh Mohan Bhardwaj, a former member of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, when the latter tried to lay a wreath at the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ in Barwala, Haryana. Speaking about this, in an interview, Naveen Jaihind said,
Now, I urge my Brahmin brothers to take ax to Khattar and throw him to power in the next elections. BJP will have us by the neck if they vote it to power again. Brahmin leaders should raise their voice against Khatri. I want to tell the Prime Minister that pride is more important for Brahmins than party ticket. We live in a democratic country. We have ideological differences, but we are not enemies. Khattar’s statement shows that he considers his opponents as his enemies.

As a member of the student union of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Naveen actively participated in various political campaigns. He joined the 20-member core team led by Anna Hazare in the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement popularly known as Anna Andolan, where he linked up with Arvind Kejriwal. Naveen joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on 26 November 2012.

Naveen started working closely with Arvind Kejriwal. Despite being considered one of the frontrunners for the Aam Aadmi Party’s chief ministerial candidate in the 2014 assembly elections, Naveen decided not to contest for the post. Naveen Jaihind contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak constituency on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket, but lost the seat to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Diender Singh Hooda. In 2016, Naveen was nominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Haryana. Naveen contested the Lok Sabha polls on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket from Faridabad constituency in 2019; However, he lost the election. In February 2020, he resigned as the Aam Aadmi Party’s Haryana convener.

Booked for assaulting a government official
In December 2022, Naveen Jaihind was arrested for assaulting a government official at the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak, Haryana. According to sources, she forced her way into the university along with 80-100 of her supporters and deputy registrar Amit Sindhu while he was verifying the documents of candidates to fill the vacancies of nurses in the university. After his arrest, Naveen, in his defence, claimed that the document verification process was unfair and that he only raised his voice against it. Speaking about this in an interview, Naveen said:
Whether I committed rape or murder, I only raised my voice that the process was not going fairly. Haryana has the highest unemployment rate and I voted for them.
