Kiran filed a case against Ranbir after the incident, and was provided with security by the court. This incident occurred just two weeks after the death of Bansi Lal’s widow Vidya Devi, who used to live in the house. Vidya Devi’s last rites were performed at Ranbir’s house, and when Kiran wanted to participate in Vidya Devi’s last rites, she was denied entry. Kiran then moved into the disputed house for 11 days with her daughter Shruti, before returning to Delhi. But a panchayat declared that Kiran and her daughter had the right to stay there.
