confrontations

Disagreement between Kaushal Kishiori’s family and his daughter-in-law

In March 2021, after unidentified gunmen opened fire on Ayush, Kaushal’s son, he was taken to a hospital in Lucknow. Later, Ayush blamed his wife Ankita and his sister-in-law for the attack. However, the police later issued a statement saying that Ayush planned the attack on himself to set a trap for his wife. Later, Ankita uploaded a video on social media saying that she was trying to commit suicide and that the responsibility of her death would be placed on Kaushal, Ayush and Jai Devi, her mother-in-law. After uploading the video, he went to Kaushal’s house and cut his wrists. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors saved his life. Later, Kaushal, in his defence, told the media that Kishiori’s family had nothing to do with Ankita and Ayush as they severed all ties with the duo after their love marriage. In June 2021, Ashish Singh, Ankita’s father, accused Kaushal of abducting his daughter after her disappearance. During the interview, Ashish said that after Ankita’s abduction, he sent a message to the family informing them that Ayush’s brother Vikas Kishore and his friend Armaan Ghazi had kidnapped her. The police said that the kidnapping allegations against the Kishore family could be part of a conspiracy as Ankita’s family did not file a missing complaint with the police. Kishore denied the allegations, calling them “false and baseless”.

Insensitive remarks about Shraddha Walker

In November 2022, Kaushal Kishore made a controversial remark about Shraddha Walker, accusing her of brutally murdering him. He also said that educated girls should not enter live-in relationships and should take lessons from “such uneducated girls”. He also advised the girls to get married to the groom selected for them by their parents. Kaushal said during the interview:

It is also the responsibility of the girls as they suddenly leave the parents who raised them for years. Why do they live in live-in relationships? If they have to do that, there should be proper registration for live-in relationships. If the parents do not publicly want such relationships, you should have a court marriage and then live together. Most educated girls live in relationships. A lesson should be learned from these incidents and illiterate girls. Those raised by their parents should stay with someone of their choice. This has to stop. The government has spread awareness over time…but will now take action to stop such incidents.”

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi termed Shraddha’s remarks as “heartfelt and cruel”, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Kishore from his post.

Facts/Trivia

  • Kaushal Kishore started an anti-drug campaign called Nasha Mukt Samaj Andolan-Abhiyan Kaushal Ka after his son Akash Kishore died on 19 October 2020 due to alcoholism. In August 2022, Kishore launched another anti-drug campaign called Hindustaniyo Nasha Chodo. Speaking about the launch of the anti-drug campaign in an interview, Kaushal said:

I lost my son (Akash Kishore) to alcohol in October 2020 and after that I vowed to make India drug free. Then I started a campaign and so far 18 million have pledged not to use drugs and 10,000 have stopped using drugs. Although I was an MP and my wife was a parliamentarian, we could not save her. While poison kills instantly, any such addiction, such as alcohol and substance abuse, kills a person very slowly. We must protect those who have not yet become addicted to alcohol or other substances. As India celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mohastuv, we have decided to launch another anti-drug campaign ‘Hindustaniyo Nasha Chodo’ on 9th August at Delhi University Sports Complex.
