Vivian Fernandes was born on October 2, 1990 (28 years old; as on 2018) in Andheri, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was brought up in the chawls of J. B Nagar in Andheri, Mumbai. He was educated at St. John the Evangelist High School, Marol Andheri, Mumbai. He graduated from RD National College, Mumbai. Since his childhood, he was inclined towards singing. He started writing rap songs when he was in the 11th grade. Inspired by famous rappers Eminem and 50 Cent, Vivian started out rapping in English, but later switched to rapping in Hindi. She accompanied her mother to a church in Marol where he practiced rap music in a quiet environment. After this, he named himself ‘Divine’.

Vivian was born into a Christian family. Her father was naturally abusive and abandoned her family when Vivian was a child. Her mother moved to the Middle Eastern country, Qatar in Arabic, to earn a living; her leaving her two children with her grandmother. Vivian has an older brother, Anthony Fernandes, who moved to Qatar to help support her mother.
Career
During her childhood, Vivian’s friend gave her a CD with songs by Eminem and 50 Cent. After listening to songs by Eminem and 50 Cent, Vivian was inspired and started writing rap songs. In her early days, it took Vivian more than 5 hours to compose perfect lyrics. She began her career as a freelance artist. She recorded her first song “Coming For You” with her Nokia N8 mobile. During her college days, she was a member of Mumbai’s Finest, a hip hop team in Mumbai and was coached by a rapper named Ace. In 2013, he was noted for his solo debut song “Yeh Mera Bombay”.
In 2013, his autobiographical rap song “Jungli Sher” was released under Sony Music India. The song covers around 40 locations in Mumbai and was shot on an iPhone.
In 2015, Divine collaborated with another rapper, Naezy and referred to the collaboration as Divine and Naezy and released a song ‘Mere Gully Mein’ under Sony Music India which was a huge hit. Reference was made to it being the Mumbai rap anthem.
In 2017, Divine collaborated with rapper Raja Kumari and composed an old school hip hop vibe for her song, City Slums.
Divine made her singing debut with the Bollywood film, Mukkabaaz. She sang the song “Paintra” along with fellow rapper Nucleya.
