During this time, the casting director of the video (directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru for Falguni Pathak) asked me if I was interested, and I agreed even though I didn’t even know what the video was about. It became a massive hit. I got Rs 4000 for that video which was more than enough.”
She then appeared in several more Hindi music videos. In 2001, he participated in the Grasim Mr India competition and won the title. After working as a model for several years, he got bored and went to the theater. Speaking about it in an interview, he said:
I was a model for about three or five years and I got tired of it. It was getting a bit old for me, going up and down the ramps, changing clothes didn’t inspire me. It wasn’t really stable enough for me; I wanted to do something that moved me more. So I started doing theater and understanding acting and seeing what I could do on stage made a really big difference.
television
She was later roped in by the Balaji Telefilms team in one of their music videos. The team offered him a TV series, but it was postponed. In 2004, he was again called by Balaji Telefilms for a serial. I was almost reaching the top of the ladder and the only name ahead was Ronit Roy. I quit and turned down a few offers because they weren’t getting me anywhere. And at that point, suddenly there was a shift where a lot of people who worked in TV moved to movies, leaving us with small-town actors who were very disrespectful and didn’t speak very well. I just felt that this is not the place for me anymore. I also lost many jobs in television. There were many battles that I went through to get the right space on the television screen; There were people who said bad things to me. I couldn’t get a job and ended up losing a lot of jobs. But I made sure it didn’t put me off. I moved on to films, but yes, it was very difficult for me because no one wanted to be part of anything for me. And I had to sit at home for five years and do nothing, it was very, very difficult.
