Career

model

She started her career as a model and later appeared in various print advertisements. His first print ad was for Levi’s Jeans. In 1999, he featured in the Hindi music video “Maine Payal Hai Chhankai” by Falguni Pathak. During the interview, she shared how she got her first modeling assignment and music video. She said,

I attended an intercollegiate event where Levis Jeans was looking for models. I was selected by them. During this time, the casting director of the video (directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru for Falguni Pathak) asked me if I was interested, and I agreed even though I didn’t even know what the video was about. It became a massive hit. I got Rs 4000 for that video which was more than enough.”

She then appeared in several more Hindi music videos. In 2001, he participated in the Grasim Mr India competition and won the title. After working as a model for several years, he got bored and went to the theater. Speaking about it in an interview, he said:

I was a model for about three or five years and I got tired of it. It was getting a bit old for me, going up and down the ramps, changing clothes didn’t inspire me. It wasn’t really stable enough for me; I wanted to do something that moved me more. So I started doing theater and understanding acting and seeing what I could do on stage made a really big difference.

In 2004, he was again called by Balaji Telefilms for a serial. After working in several serials, he left acting in serials. During the interview, he shared the reason for this. She said,

I was almost reaching the top of the ladder and the only name ahead was Ronit Roy. I quit and turned down a few offers because they weren’t getting me anywhere. And at that point, suddenly there was a shift where a lot of people who worked in TV moved to movies, leaving us with small-town actors who were very disrespectful and didn’t speak very well. I just felt that this is not the place for me anymore. I also lost many jobs in television. There were many battles that I went through to get the right space on the television screen; There were people who said bad things to me. I couldn’t get a job and ended up losing a lot of jobs. But I made sure it didn’t put me off. I moved on to films, but yes, it was very difficult for me because no one wanted to be part of anything for me. And I had to sit at home for five years and do nothing, it was very, very difficult.

I have never done anything like this before. Kunal Kohli approached me for this role. I told him that if I do something like this, it’s worth it. I was actually going to play Raavan. I think that’s what really makes you a part of this industry, otherwise you just can’t exist in this field without having a passion for it.”

Bollywood, of course, had Amitabh Bachchan and Dharamji (Dharmendra) who were part of some amazing films. I also watched many Marathi movies. My mother was a Maharashtrian, so we used to watch many comedy films of Laxmikant Berde. Today I can do decent comedy as an actor because I learned a lot from his films.”

  • In the interview, he talked about facing financial difficulties in 2020 during the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. she said,

The financial results were difficult for me. Raising a child is no joke, especially when you want to give your child the best. We have lost several actors from the industry due to financial pressure. I don’t think half of them were even reported. People see the outer world of our actors, but they don’t see the anxiety we go through. When everything stops, you don’t know where you’re going, it can take a toll on you mentally.”
