Mridula Tripathi was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. He did his schooling at National High School, Kolkata. In 1999, he graduated from Hindi Hons. from Sri Shikshayathan College, Kolkata, West Bengal. He then completed his post-graduation and B.Ed. He then wanted to pursue M.Phil and PhD.

Love story of Pankaj Tripathi and Mridula Tripathi
On 24 May 1993, Mridula first met Pankaj at the wedding of her elder brother, who is married to Pankaj Tripathi’s sister. In an interview, sharing his memories, he said:
It was my elder brother’s tilak (engagement ceremony). I was walking to the tiny room on the terrace to get dressed when this guy with hazel eyes, brown hair and a beard passed me. Those eyes followed me throughout the function.”
At that time, Mridula was in 9th standard and Pankai was in 12th standard. Then they became friends and soon fell in love. In an interview, when Pankaj was asked about his first meeting with Mridula, he said:
My sister got married. But her relatives wanted to build a toilet before my sister went there. This was long before ‘Toilet Ek Prem Kata’. My friend went to her mother-in-law’s house to see what renovation work was being done. He saw a girl there and came and told me about her. He said she is very beautiful. He walks like a deer. I heard his compliments and was lost. I got married after 11 years. We both dated only from 1993 to 2004. I was going to drama school at that time. Those times were very different for me because there were no mobile phones at that time. The letter could not be written because it looked like anyone in the house could open it and read it. When I went to NSD, there was a phone in his house and it was landline. We decided to talk every day at 7.30 in the morning and at 20:00 in the evening.”

After completing her studies, Mridula moved from Kolkata to Delhi to work as a teacher. At that time, Pankaj was also in Delhi to pursue an acting course at the National School of Drama. In an interview, Mridula said that she was not aware of her relationship with Pankaj Tripathi, her parents were once looking for a groom for her. At that time, Pankai also accompanied his sister and daughter-in-law to the bridegroom’s house. Speaking about the same in an interview, Mridula said:
Pankai accompanied my brother and sister-in-law to the groom-to-be. He came and told me that it was a good match for me and I would definitely get ‘Bhautik Sukh’. I didn’t know much Hindi then and I asked him what it meant and he said ‘material happiness’. That’s when I felt that I was losing something very precious. Only I know how far I would go to break up this marriage. And now the most important dilemma was to deliver this news to Pankaj.
After dating for several years, the couple got married in 2004.

They then moved to Mumbai as Pankaj wanted to pursue his acting career. During Pankaji’s struggle, Mridula was earning money and Pankaji was cooking at home. Pankaj praised his wife several times for her support. In one of the interviews he said:
If you ask me about my struggle, I don’t have any sad details like sleeping on the trail or starving for days. This is because my wife, Mridula, took charge of the house. In fact, I tell everyone that he is the man of the house.”
